What is V-ray?

V-Ray is a commercial rendering plugin for 3D computer graphics software applications. It is developed by Peter Mitev and Vladimir Koylazov of Chaos Group (Sofia, Bulgaria), a company established in 1997. V-Ray is used in media, entertainment and design industries such as film and video game production, industrial design, product design and architecture.

Specially V-ray design for photo realistic render. V-Ray use advanced techniques, for example global illumination algorithms such as path tracing, photon mapping, irradiance maps and directly computed global illumination. The use of these techniques often makes it preferable to conventional renders which are provided standard with 3d software, and generally renders using these technique can appear more photo-realistic, as actual lighting effects are more realistically emulated.
